Big Brother 2’s Kent Blackwelder has died. Big Brother 2 houseguest Kent Blackwelder died Saturday, according to people associated with the show. He was 62, and is the first person from CBS

Big Brother 2 was the second season of the American reality television series Big Brother ( It began on July 5, 2001, and aired on CBS for 82 days, concluding on September 20, 2001, when Will Kirby was crowned the winner with five votes from the evicted HouseGuests. He won $500,000. The format of Big Brother 2 was different than that of the first American season, which had been a direct port from the original Dutch version. In Season 2, Every week the houseguests would compete to become the Head of Household (HOH). The HOH would then nominate two houseguests for eviction. The fellow contestants would vote, and the player with the most votes would be evicted. On Finale night, all former houseguests returned to vote for who they thought should win the grand prize. Twists/Changes More Gameplay Orientated Game: As the result of the negative critical response to the first season, the second season introduced a more gameplay orientated focus on more competition and strategy in likes of Survivor, this format would become the basis of Big Brother ( Nomination Discussion Allowed: Unlike most international versions, the Houseguests were now free to talk about nominations. Head of Household: For the first time internationally, each week one Houseguest will be given the power to control nominations and nominate two Houseguests for eviction. Houseguests Vote: Unlike the previous season where the viewing public voted to banish the houseguests, the Houseguests themselves would decide who would be evicted. The Jury: For the first time internationally, a "jury" of peers will vote for the winner of the season rather than a voting public. Mike chose to nominate Nicole Nilson Schaffrich and Sheryl Braxton for eviction, with Nicole being his main target. On the very first night, Nicole had appeared to be very loud and controlling to the other houseguests. Mike nominated Nicole against Sheryl because he thought that Sheryl was too liked by the rest of the house to be evicted; he thought that Nicole would definitely be the one to go. Later in the week, Mike, Will Kirby and Shannon Dragoo formed the "Chilltown" alliance, the first true alliance of Big Brother history. The rest of the house formed the alliance of "TOP" (The Other People), to go against the Chilltown alliance. On Day 10, Justin Sebik was expelled from the house for holding a knife to Krista Stegall's neck and threatening the other houseguests. Sheryl was evicted in a five to three vote, after the votes had decided to go against Chilltown's wishes. Week 2 Krista Stegall won the "To the Mat" Head of Household competition and was crowned Head of Household. The house were unaware who Krista would nominate as she had been playing both sides of the house. In order to help her decide who to nominate, Krista went round to each houseguest individually and asked them who should be nominated. The majority of the houseguests all said Will, a member of the Chilltown alliance. Despite the house wanting her to nominate a member of the Chilltown, Krista chose to nominate Autumn Daly and Kent Blackwelder for eviction. Many of the houseguests saw this as an opportunity to evict a weak player from the house, Autumn. Autumn was evicted in a unanimous vote of seven to zero. Week 3 Hardy Ames-Hill won the "By the Numbers" Head of Household competition. He chose to nominate Will Kirby and Shannon Dragoo for eviction, two members of the Chilltown alliance who were also involved in a romantic relationship together. Shannon felt the need to "sacrifice" herself in order for Will to remain in the game. In order to do this, she verbally attacked many houseguests and infamously cleaned the toilet with Hardy's toothbrush. Shannon's plan was successful and she was evicted by a unanimous vote. Week 4 Kent Blackwelder won the "Higher or Lower" Head of Household competition. He chose to nominate Krista Stegall and Mike "Boogie" Malin, two members of the Chilltown alliance who were also involved in a romantic relationship. Following their nomination, Mike and Kent were involved in various arguments with one another. Kent's target was Mike and the majority of houseguests agreed with this decision. Mike was evicted in a four to one vote. Week 5 Hardy Ames-Hill won the "Face the Facts" Head of Household, earning his second consecutive HOH win of the season. This made him the first person in the game to hold the title of HOH twice. The divide between the Chilltown and the alliance "The Other People" seemed to disappear, as there was only one member of Chilltown left in the house. The members of "The Other People" began to turn on each other and fracture into pairs. Hardy chose to nominate the last remaining Chilltown member, Will Kirby, and Kent Blackwelder. Kent was angered by his nomination and felt as if he had been betrayed. Kent was evicted by a unanimous vote. Week 6 Nicole Nilson Schaffrich won the "Pushing It to the Limit" Head of Household competition. She nominated Krista Stegall and Monica Bailey for eviction, stating that their close-bond was too powerful in the house. The two best-friends agreed that they would not rally up votes against one another. However, knowing that she would be the one evicted, Krista did try to gain sympathy vote from her other close-friend Will Kirby. Krista was evicted from the house in a unanimous three to zero vote. Week 7 & 8 Hardy Ames-Hill won the "Big Brother Road Trip" Head of Household competition. He nominated Bunky Miller and Will Kirby for eviction. Hardy and his ally Nicole Nilson Schaffrich, knowing that they would ultimately decide who was to be evicted, discussed who they should vote for. In order to ensure that he remained in the house, Will made a deal with Hardy that he would keep Nicole safe if he won HOH the following the week. Unaware that Will was lying, Hardy believed Will and cast the tiebreaker vote to evict Bunky over Will. Week 9 Monica Bailey won the "Strange Bedfellows" endurance competition. She nominated allies Hardy Ames-Hill and Nicole Nilson Schaffrich for eviction, leaving Will Kirby with the sole vote that week. During Week 3, after Hardy had nominated Shannon Dragoo, Will promised to Shannon that he would avenge her eviction by evicting Hardy when he got the chance. With this in mind, Will cast the sole vote to evict Hardy from the house. Week 10 The final Head of Household competition was divided into three parts; the two houseguests that accumulated the highest total number of points in the first two rounds of the competition would advance to the final round. The first part was a quiz based on how former houseguests had described the three remaining houseguests; Will Kirby received 5 points, Nicole Nilson Schaffrich received 4 points and Monica Bailey received 3 points. In the second part, houseguests were given a time limit to complete various household tasks, and would receive a point for each task they completed; Nicole received 7 points, Monica received 6 points and Will received 5 points. This meant that Nicole and Will advanced to the final round, after receiving 11 points and 10 points each respectively. The final round was a quiz based on experiences in the Big Brother 2 house, the houseguest that answered the most questions correctly would become the final HOH. After answering every question correctly, Nicole was crowned the final HOH. She chose to evict Monica, as she thought she stood more of a chance of winning if she was up against Will. But it was arguably schoolteacher Penny who made the biggest impression in the early days. The house-proud housemate not only massaged and kissed car designer Paul, but also let her towel slip in front of the cameras. During hairdresser Helen's birthday party, the sparks really began to fly. The oldest member of the House, Stuart, claimed he would sleep with all the girls bar Penny. The two declared war and despite appearing to make up the following morning, a sarcastic wink from Stuart to Paul revealed this wasn't the case. Week 2 Nominee 42% to Evict Helen Evicted 58% to Evict Penny The first nominations proved tough to everyone bar the feisty Narinder - "I could've nominated six people no problem!" Penny and Helen were the first up for eviction. Bubble and Brian's prank-war was in full effect, with the hat-loving housemate first stealing Brian's beloved teddy bear and then removing the slats from the Irishman's bed. An increasingly erratic Penny found it difficult to live in such an enclosed space. Venting her spleen at Narinder, Penny hissed: "They think I'm neurotic and weird? How about Bubble with his f*****g hats? He's f*****g common as muck! "I've had enough, I'm going out tomorrow. Seven b*****ds voted me out!" Penny became the first housemate voted out. Week 3 Nominee 14% to Evict Paul No sooner had Penny left, there was a shock in store for the remaining housemates as newbie Josh was introduced into the House. The handsome man was immediately fought over by girls Narinder and Helen, who then almost fell out when Helen famously misheard "classy" for "crappy". The girls were disappointed however when Josh divulged he was gay. Paul and Stuart were nominated for eviction, before a remarkable night ensued which witnessed fighting from all angles. In the pool, Amma and Stuart almost came to blows as Stuart's 'dogmatic' attitude disagreed with an emotional Amma. Separately, Brian and Josh battled it out in the lounge when Brian admitted he found Josh's presence a threat - "You are gay. You will judge me!" he two quietest, and more mature, members of the household - Dean and Elizabeth - bonded in the swimming pool as Elizabeth admitted she "wants to win". Stuart became the second housemate voted out. Week 4 The weekly task saw the group bet their lowest percentage on success so far - just 10%. The housemates were required to adopt an individual dance, and perform it on request from Big Brother anytime between and - the task lasted five days! Narinder and Paul were up for eviction, and the fiery girl was up to her usual tricks with partner-in-crime Brian. "It's not been a barrel of laughs in here," she told him. The seeds were set for future romance. Paul and Helen began to spend a great deal of time together - but bubbly Helen appeared completely oblivious to Paul's subtle flirtations. House pranks continued with the girls infiltrating the boys with a massive pillow attack, while the group entertained themselves with an impromptu tennis tournament which Josh won. Narinder became the third housemate voted out. Week 5 Nominee 47% to Evict Paul Another weekly task inspired the gang as they attempted to set official Guinness World Records. Although an enthusiastic Bubble eventually failed with his sweetcorn kernel record, Dean did succeed - by building the record breaking biggest ever sugar cube tower. Despite being nominated for the third successive week, Paul seemed unperturbed and his intimacy with Helen was causing the blonde girl concern. "You have pinned me to the bed," Paul informed her as Helen worried what her (soon-to-be-ex) boyfriend would think. Paul was up for the public vote against the loud and honest Bubble. The Chelsea supporter looked more and more nervous as Friday approached, eventually conning Brian into believing he planned to escape over the back wall - eventually he settled for sleeping in the garden den. The highlight of the week came on Elizabeth's birthday. The usually demure girl found herself naked in a hot tub along with Amma and Helen - with only Josh and Brian allowed to enter the room. Bubble also painstakingly laid out a birthday poem with stones in the garden. Bubble became the fourth housemate voted out. Week 6 Nominee 36% to Evict Paul Evicted 64% to Evict Amma Paddy was introduced to the group - no, not another housemate, but a fluffy white Bichon Freise for the weekly task. The gang were charged with teaching Paddy several tricks including 'fetching' and 'playing dead'. Paul's sleep talking reached new levels as the Reading lad was heard muttering, "Stand there... would though wouldn't you really" during early morning reverie. There was little surprise when it came to nominations. For the fourth time, Paul was up for the public vote, this time alongside Amma. Helen's feelings for her beau became clearly during the announcement as the Welsh girl squealed: "I don't want Paul to go!" Brian - having lost chums Narinder and Bubble - turned to the pragmatic Dean for kinship. The two shared a hilarious dislike of Paul, with Brian asking the Brummie: "Dean, what people relate to Paul? With all due respect, they must be 10 years of age, love Star Wars and can kick their legs really high." Meanwhile, Brian and Josh continued to fall out with Josh claiming Brian was "a child" to Amma, and Brian saying Josh took his melodramas "too seriously". Amma became the fifth housemate voted out. Week 7 Nominee 16% to Evict Helen Evicted 84% to Evict Josh Brian became known for using the catchphrase "that's evil" as he tasted various cheeses, before freaking out about putting on weight and enlisting Dean for an abdominal workout. Josh jokingly warned the increasingly close Paul and Helen that, "The whole of the outside world thinks something is going on!" Helen herself began to wise up to the situation, claiming her boyfriend (Big G): "Could have been up to anything." It was Josh and Helen's names read out for possible eviction and both seemed convinced they would be leaving. Romance in the House became a real issue as Big Brother paired the housemates off for intimate dates - Paul with Helen, Josh with Brian and Elizabeth with Dean. Josh jokingly shocked Brian by asking for a b**w-job, Paul boasted to Helen that he lived his life like an "international playboy" while Elizabeth admitted to Dean she missed getting naked. Helen and Paul decided to spend the night in the den - although both skulked off to separate beds early in the morning. Josh became the sixth housemate voted out. Week 8 Nominee 16% to Evict Helen Evicted 84% to Evict Paul During the weekly task, an assault course, Helen confessed to Paul that the famous Big G wasn't "really a boyfriend" and the word "stuff" came to be used as the pair's codeword for sex. Paul and Helen decided to spend the entire night in the den to talk about their relationship. Still worried about the presence of Helen's boyfriend, Paul decided to get the situation out in the open. "You fancy me don't you?" he asked Helen. "It's bloody obvious. And yeah, it's obvious that I fancy you." And then the unthinkable - Helen and Paul were the final two up for eviction. Paul became the seventh housemate voted out. Week 9 Unbeknown to the final four - Elizabeth, Brian, Dean and Helen - Big Brother would be evicting the housemate with the fewest votes a day early. The gang were allowed to discuss their nominations over the last nine weeks, and Helen admitted voting for Brian in Week 5 because, "he was selfish and vindictive!" Jumping out of his deck chair, Brian feigned annoyance. "But it was my birthday! You've really annoyed me!" he yelled. Brian told Dean he had no chance of winning BB.
